Tooth Extraction
Tooth extraction is a dental procedure during which the tooth is completely removed from its socket. The extraction of teeth is often necessary when a tooth is infected, decayed, or crowded. Patients with braces may need one or two teeth removed to provide room for their other teeth as they shift into place.
Usually performed by a dentist or oral surgeon, tooth extraction is an outpatient procedure requiring either local, general, or intravenous anesthesia.
Removing visible teeth is a simple extraction. More complex procedures are required for teeth that are broken, below the surface or impacted. It takes a few days to recover after tooth extraction.
